Choose a desk and control layers

Desks switch on coherent sets of layers; the layer panel controls each one.

What you get: The layers that answer your question, and only those, on the map.

Steps

  1. Open the "Desks" menu and choose "Weather desk", "Aviation desk", "Maritime desk", "Environment desk" or "Global hazards desk". A note confirms how many layers came on.
  2. To change one layer, find it in the "LAYERS" panel and use its switch. Each row says what the layer is, where it comes from and, where it matters, where it reaches.
  3. Layers → "Layer catalogue…" lists every layer with search, provenance and confidence. Layers → "Turn off every data layer" clears the map.
  4. View → "Layers: full rail" shows every layer as a row; "Layers: icon dock" shows one glyph per section at the edge. "Layer rail: left", "right" or "hidden" moves it.
  5. On a paid plan, "Ask AI" on the time bar takes a question, typed or spoken, and switches on the layers that answer it, over the place it names. It chooses layers; it does not answer the question for you.

What success looks like

The "All layers" line in the panel shows the number of active layers, and the map draws them.

Limits to know

  • A desk changes layers only. It does not touch panels or workspaces, and it leaves your own imported data and the terrain view as you had them.
  • The desks are the five listed; there is no infrastructure desk. Infrastructure and energy layers are switched on individually — see Infrastructure, energy and country indicators.
  • A layer in the catalogue is not proof its feed is running right now; the row shows its live state, and Coverage and sources explains the difference.
  • Ask AI is part of the paid plans (Cartevoir Premium and Business, Intellivoir First and Teams). It is not shown on a free account, and not on a phone.

If something is wrong

I switched a layer on and nothing appeared.
It may be outside its coverage, need a closer zoom, or be waiting for data. See Why a map can look empty.
The desk turned off a layer I wanted.
Switch it back on in the "LAYERS" panel; a desk is a starting point, not a lock.
