News desks and the Briefing
Where news items come from, how dates and translations are shown, and what the Briefing is.
What you get: You can follow news beside the map and know each item's outlet, date and language.
Steps
- Add a news panel from Layers → "Data panels" (for example world news); the panel dock opens with it.
- Each headline names its outlet and time. Where machine translation is switched on in a news desk, translated headlines are labelled as translated.
- Tools → "Briefing" opens the Briefing: what moved while you were away, and a board of the widgets that stand without the map.
- Tools → "Data" opens one page per thing, starting with places.
What success looks like
You can open each headline at its source.
Limits to know
- Headlines are what outlets published; the product does not verify them. Summaries are not written for every item.
- Machine translation is a convenience and can be wrong; read the original for anything that matters.
- Most panels are in English; several languages are wired, and translation of the interface is partial.
